Bishop Montgomery @ Windward 6pm
Saturday December 1, 2018
It’s an early season rematch as Bishop Montgomery tries to place two L’s on Windward. The Lady Knights defeated Windward 61-57 during the Redondo Union Battle @ The Beach Tourney, getting superior play from back court running mates Kayla Williams and Kayla Padilla. Both young ladies have inked LOI’s, so they can focus their entire senior season on Chasing the ‘Ship. They’ve captured one, knocking off a grungy Etiwanda Team, 59-50 to take the 2018 Redondo Union Battle @ the Beach crown.
Since the loss, Charisma Osborne (UCLA) has been nursing a sore ankle and didn’t play the following day against Redondo Union. Nevertheless, Windward was able to capture third place, defeating a stout Redondo Union club. With the absence of Charisma, that speaks volumes and I’m sure raised the level of player confidence among the Lady Wildcats. Knowing that the ‘next man up’ mantra holds true for their ball club, will always be in the back of their minds as the season progresses.
The X-Factor would be a healthy Charisma but on the flip side, it’s BM’s Kayla Padilla. Her energy and ability to stay special for a full 32 minutes of play might just prove to be too much for Windward to handle. If BM’s Kayla and Kayla can keep it close, in last few minutes of play it’s up for grabs. If that’s the case, look for Padilla to bring out her magic potion, putting a spell on Windward and coming away with the W….as well as So. Cal. girls hoops bragging rights
Windward in a nail biter as home court advantage prevails.
