Girls Marquee Match-up: El Camino Real vs Granada Hills Charter

Kianna Hamilton-Fisher will need to dust off her shoulders for El Camino Real and much more tonight, if the Lady Conquistadors have any chance of avenging their 58-29 setback January 24, 2018.  Home court advantage will play a key role, as GHC heads to Woodland Hills, looking to capture The West Valley league title after sharing the crown with El Camino last year.  El Camino will have a lot to say and just might be special enough to put a seasons’ end to GHC’s 10 game winning streak –  as well as steal a piece of the West Valley League 1st Place Pie.

The roof is on fire.

Granada Hills Charter (23-4, 9-1) is on a 10 game winning streak.  Coach Jared Hong has his girls in top form heading into tonight’s 7pm barn burner.  The roof will be on fire indeed, as GHC comes out the gate pulling the bow and arrow, executing early on, and as a result, looking to put a damper on an opposing teams’ spirit. It’s imperative that ECR comes out early on and sets the tone, considering they were down 16-3 in the 1st quarter, during their first meeting.

Kianna Hamiton Fisher will need to check herself at the door and remember she needs to put her team on her back, staying out of foul trouble in the process.  She picked up three early fouls in the first few minutes of the1st quarter during their first meeting on the road.  Let’s hope the refs show some love tonight in her own back yard.

Put on your game face.

One thing for sure is that Elco fans better hope The Lady Conquistadors woke up this morning with their game faces on, choosing not to wear any make for the rest of the day.  It’s going to take a complete effort from their squad with a few players needing to become special. 1st year Coach Rai Colston will need to pull a few rabbits out of his hat as well.  He’s done well – logging a 20 win season (21-8, 8-1) and one of the favorites to win a City Title heading into next weeks opening round games of the  CIF LA City Section playoff.

The game should go down to the wire… with depth playing a key role.  GHC appears to have a few more pieces who are solid, limit mental mistakes, and can make plays when it counts.  Elco will have that ‘it factor’ of playing at home and feeding off the energy of their home crowd.  At the end of the day, if Elco can’t contain 5’5 Sr PG Emily Mitchell and she begins to work her magic by pushing the rock and getting her teammates involved, while still being able to contribute on the offensive end of the court, this could spell d-o-o-m for the Lady Conquistadors.  Come out and support your team tonight.  Tip off is set at 7pm.
