It’s going down tonight with some good girls basketball in the State of Cali’. Three top match ups to start the early season grind. Great way to begin your turkey day tomorrow by watching some stud muffins put in work the eve before.
Oaks Christian vs Beverly Hills 6pm
Culver City High Tourney
Oaks Christian finished the 2016-17 season 22-9 (9-1 league play), finishing ranked #48 in the State of CA, eventually losing to Valencia 56-34 in the semifinal of the D1AA playoffs. Senior Guard #32 Camryn Davis (above) should be battle tested from last season and ready to take Oaks Christian to the next level. Look for So. Guard Taylor Donaldson to provide some back court punch as well.
Beverly Hills comes in after winning the 4A title last season. #11 Chantal Moawad will be a stud muffin this season and Beverly Hills should return as the 4A favorites. Depth should provide a spark for The Normans (we love the play last year of Freshman PG Dominique Petrie – she will be a stud muffin indeed) who should be much experienced this season, losing none of their players to graduation from last years state title run.
The Pick: Beverly Hills
El Camino Real vs Valencia 6pm
Valencia High School
El Camino goes into Valencia’s house with seniors that should push the envelope and come away with the W. El Camino Sr. Guard Kianna Hamilton Fisher has signed with Long Beach State and looks to play and more leadership role this season, with the rock in her hands. Got a sneak peak at the Fall Showcase at Lynwood High and it looks as though several of their key players are in top condition. El Camino must still prove that they can beat a top CIF-SS team under the helm of their new coach. Valencia is always a very well coached team and this season should be no different. Although they lose their star play Kayla Konrad from graduation, look for Valencia to reload, regroup, and be a contender come seasons end.
The Pick: El Camino
Windward vs Harvard Westlake 6pm
Windward High School
If your looking for a Marquee Match up as an early season way to gauge play, then you don’t want to miss Windward tonite at 6pm, as they host Harvard Westlake. Maxpreps has Windward on their Xcellent list at #23. Nice.
Harvard Westlake must be given a good look as a national contender, considering the twins put in so much work last season as juniors. Having punched their tickets to the University of Pepperdine, the two can focus all of their attention on the court – which means trouble for opposing teams, who seek to come up with a scouting report to defeat Harvard Westlake this season. Barn burner indeed family, giving us an idea of who truly has been in the lab over the summer break. Let the games begin.
