Riley Battin – Class of 2018

Class of 2018 6’9 PF Riley Battin is what we call a ‘stocking stuffer’.  The kid can impact the game in many ways and fills up the stat sheets.  Image by PopScout.

Jingle Bells…Jingle Bells…It’s too early for Santa but we did get a chance to see Riley Battin of Oak Park deliver a few presents to teamates at the 2016 Maranatha Summer Block Party and boy were we impressed.  The big man has a natural feel for the game .  He has a very nice shooting touch from 3, advanced passing skills, and has that knack for making his players around him play at a higher level. He scores from all levels of the court and handles the ball very well for a big – looking to push in transition and initiate the offense whenever he gets a chance.  Always seems to be on attack mode to make plays and rarely makes many mental mistakes, that lead to costly turnovers.  Looking for him to develop a bit more quickness in his game on both ends of the court –  but his upside is tremendous. We like what Oak Park does with this big and look forward to seeing him do damage in 2016-17.

Here’s a few clips of multifaceted Battin against Riverside Notre Dame in the 2016 Maranatha Summer Block party hosted by Coach Tucker and the Minutemen Staff. Verbal Commits has Riley slated as a 3 Star prospect with little interest from only mid major schools. Really?  This kid is a sleeper and will rise on the charts – and radar –  in the months to come.
