The Birmingham Patriots shocked Damien, on the road even, and will now take on Redondo Union in a CIF D1 State Basketball Championship 2nd round match up. The Patriots have been up and down this season – with the gripe being that they haven’t played a tough schedule or beaten anyone with a solid winning record and/or quality wins against top opponents. Strength of schedule may rear its ugly head when they face an experienced squad in Redondo Union and their leader Leland Green. The game takes place Saturday, March 12 in Redondo Beach. Tip off is set at 7pm. Birmingham is hoping they can pull another rabbit out of their hat and defeat Redondo Union – sending Redondo fishing in their on back yard.
Take a look at Birmingham against Taft – January 27, 2016 in the first of two league meetings. Birmingham hopes it has enough fuel in its take to upset Redondo Union and their savvy coach Reggie Morris Jr.
